In November 2006, the physician and inventor Gunther von
Hagens inaugurated an anatomical teaching center - the PLASTINARIUM in
Guben/Brandenburg, which is the only one of this kind worldwide.
On 3000 sqm of the restored former cloth factory „Gubener
Wolle", the visitors are daily guided through four sectors: the history of
anatomy and preservation techniques, learning workshop as well as the sales
room. Furthermore, the visitors see plastinated animals and animal sheets, which
are shown in the newly created exhibition Body Worlds of Animals.
The symbiosis of an anatomical workshop and Gunther von
Hagens´ exhibition of plastinates allows doctors, students,
medical/healing practioners and amateurs a detailed insight into our inner life
and the process of plastination.
